Black Queens visit Jubilee House after WAFCON heroics; Mahama promises security service recruitment support

The Black Queens paid a courtesy call on President John Mahama and Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang at the Jubilee House following their bronze-medal finish at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.

During the meeting, President Mahama commended the team for their impressive performance and resilience, which earned them third place at the continental tournament.

He described their achievement as a source of national pride and a reflection of Ghanaian determination and talent.

As part of the government’s support to athletes, Mahama announced that he has directed the Minister for the Interior to prioritise national athletes in future recruitment into the country’s security services.

The visit was marked by moments of celebration and encouragement, with the President reaffirming his administration’s commitment to supporting sports development and improving conditions for Ghanaian athletes.
