BCI mourns victims of August 6 helicopter tragedy: “A nation grieves, and so do we”

Breast Care International (BCI), an NGO, has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic helicopter crash that claimed the lives of eight prominent individuals, including key public servants, on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.
In an official statement issued from Kumasi, BCI said the tragedy had struck painfully close to home, as those lost were not only leaders of the state but fellow citizens committed to the nation’s growth and well-being.
“We grieve not as distant observers, but as mothers, fathers, colleagues, and partners in Ghana’s shared journey toward development and hope,” the statement read.
The organization extended heartfelt condolences to President John Dramani Mahama, the bereaved families, the Government of Ghana, the Ghana Armed Forces, and all Ghanaians affected by the tragedy.
The crash involved a military Z-9 helicopter, which went down in a forested area near Adansi Sikaman in the Ashanti Region.
BCI, the number one advocate of breast cancer campaign and education, concluded its message by honoring the legacy of the deceased and urging Ghanaians to draw strength from their service.
“May their lives continue to speak, in legacy, in service, and in our collective resolve to build a stronger, more united Ghana,” the statement signed by its President, Dr Mrs Beatrice Wiafe Addai, concluded.
