Bremang Mausoleum ready to receive late Asantehemaa’s body for her final burial

The Royal Mausoleum at Bremang is set to receive the remains of the late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III, as her final burial rites draw to a close today, Thursday, September 18, 2025.

The week-long funeral, which began on Monday, September 15, is culminating in a solemn and culturally significant burial in line with Asante traditions.

A visit by Otec News to Bremang on Thursday morning revealed that the Royal Mausoleum has been fully adorned in black and red cloths, traditional symbols of mourning,  signaling the sorrow felt across the Ashanti Kingdom.

Residents of Bremang are observing the strict directive issued by Manhyia Palace to remain indoors during the burial.

The atmosphere in the Kumasi Central Business District is equally somber, as the city came to a complete halt on Thursday.

All markets, shops, offices, schools, and public transport operations have ceased, in full compliance with the Manhyia Palace’s order to suspend commercial activities in honor of the revered queen mother.

Otec News also observed that major streets in Adum and around the Kumasi Central Market were deserted, with residents respectfully observing silence and mourning.

The Asantehemaa’s burial will take place later this evening at the Bremang Royal Mausoleum, and the public has been warned to stay indoors between 7:00 p.m. and 4:00 a.m. on Friday, September 19, 2025.

Nana Konadu Yiadom III, who served as the 14th Asantehemaa from 2017 until her death at age 98, was the biological sister of Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

Her reign was marked by dignity, cultural preservation, and devotion to the Asante Kingdom.
