The participants were taken through the process of how to self-examine the breasts for early detection of breast cancer by the medical team from By Grace Medical Center.

They were also made to be aware that breast cancer in curable, treatable, and preventable, hence the need to seek early treatment when necessary.
The event, in collaboration with Otec FM, was held at the medical center premises on Tuesday, October 13, 2025.
The participants also underwent free screening on diabetes and hypertension.
Participants were allowed to ask questions about breast cancer, and answers were given by the health personnel.
Addressing the participants, Kate Appiah Boateng, affectionately called Aunte Nurse, described the breast cancer as a “silent and deadly disease” and advised them to frequently check their breasts.
She also advised them to quickly report to the hospital if they found anything unusual in or on the breasts for quick action to be taken.
“Breast cancer at the early stage is not painful, and can be only detected through clinical screening. So anytime you find anything in the breast or around the breast, please seek an advice from a professional medical practitioner,” she stated.
Mrs Kate Appiah Boateng advised women to avoid the consumption of alcohol, cigarette, fatty foods, as these are some of the risk factors that are associated with the contracting of the disease.
Some of the participants who spoke to Otec News expressed their delight on the program, and wished for more exercises to improve their health well-being.
“If not this event, I never knew that breast cancer is curable, all that I knew was that it was a death sentence once a person gets it,” Akua Mansah, a resident of Afrancho gladly said.
“Now I will tell my household to frequently patronize the hospitals to have their breasts examined to avoid any disaster,” Akua Mansah added.
