Akufo-Addo has created a ‘nuisance’ govt for Ghana – Kofi Adams

The National Organiser of the National Democratic Congress, Kofi Adams has ridiculed government’s justification for appointing “abnormal” size ministers and deputies.
President Nana Akufo-Addo has so far appointed 110 persons comprising 60 deputy ministers and 50 substantive ministers to serve in his government in the four-year tenure.
A cross-section of Ghanaians have spoken against the size of the government, saying it is needless as they argued, it will put undue pressure on the stressed national purse.
In defence, government officials as well as the president have maintained that the challenges confronting the nation demand the service of such number of ministers. But Kofi Adams of the opposition NDC has rejected the explanation calling the number “abnormal”.

He told TV3 that the Akufo-Addo-led administration just succeeded in “forming a nuisance government” to run the affairs of the country.
The NDC National Organiser said under former President Kufuor’s eight-year leadership, same explanation was given for the huge number of ministers he appointed but nothing substantial was achieved.
He cited, for instance, in Kufuor’s bid to improve the aviation sector, a minister was appointed for that sector, and yet the only national carrier, Ghana International Airlines, “collapsed” under him.
He also observed that the only international airport in the country, KIA, “did not see any expansion”. Kofi Adams also mentioned that when Kufuor created the railway ministry, some railway lines were rather sold as “scraps” with nothing to write home about the sector.
In his analysis, the president does not need 110 ministers to execute his mandate.
