The final funeral rites of the late queen mother of Asanteman, Nana Afia Serwaa Kobi Ampem II is underway.
According to Manhyia Palace, the final funeral for the late mother of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II who passed in November 2016 at age 111 would take place from today.

She was enstooled in 1977 as the 13th queen mother of the Asante Kingdom since 1695 after the late Nana Ama Serwaa Nyarko II who reigned from 1945 to 1977.
She saw the reign of the late Otumfuo Opoku Ware II as Asantehene who reigned from 1970 to 1999.

There will be performance of certain rituals is to eradicate negative spiritual plans of some persons who will visit the palace under the pretext of mourning with the Royal King but are bent on causing harm to people.

In all, 1,500 traditional priests and priestesses are expected to grace the durbar at the Palace to display their skills in drumming and dancing.
Most of them are clad in white calico, talcum powder on their bodies, amulets around the wrists, waists, ankles and holding whist.
Others also, especially the priests dance bare-chested, holding various kinds of sticks.
