Fire razes down Auto Mechanic Shops and school feeding items at Bantama
Fire has gutted 10 shops and five cars at Suame Zone 10 within the Abrepo Electoral Area in the Kumasi Metropolis.
The inferno affected stores for storage of school feeding items belonging to Nurul Islamic Basic School. The school feeding programme goods included rice, maize, oil and tin tomatoes were completely burnt in the inferno.
The fire which started around 1:30am on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 destroyed engines, car batteries, car spare parts and other items that were in the shops belonging to artisans.
One of the shop owners Eric Duodu who is an auto mechanic and a spare parts dealer lost his shops to fire.All items in his shops worth thousands of cedis were burnt beyond recognition.
In an interview with Otec News’ Jacob Agyenim Boateng,Eric Duodu explained that, he was informed by a passer-by at around 2:15 am on Tuesday morning about the fire. He noted that he rushed to the area only to see all his properties gone.
Eric cried that though the fire service did their best to save the situation they could not save his properties from the hot hands of fire.
Agyenim Boateng reported from the scene that, a school closed to the area, Nuru Islamic basic school at Bantama was also affected by the blazing fire.
The school feeding program department of the learning center lost all their foods to the fire.
It was a sad moment for school children as they kept wondering what they were going to eat in the coming weeks.
The director in charge of Disaster Risk Reduction of the National Disaster Management Organisation(NADMO) at Bantama sub metro Kofi Nti said they have accessed the situation for them to be able to help the victims.
