Journalist dies after aborting three months pregnancy
A 23 year old journalist, Mary Owusua, met her death in an attempt to abort her three month old pregnancy with mixed coca cola drink and sugar at Adansi Apagya in the Adansi South district of the Ashanti region on Monday April 9, 2018.
Mary Owusua, also known as “DJ Slim”, who hailed from Manso Nkwanta in the Amansie West district in the Ashanti region, was doing her internship with Edubiaseman FM, a radio station at New Edubiase, where she met her boyfriend, whose name was only given as “Puyol”
According to Addison Benjamin, a resident, in an interview with Nana Krobea Asante, the host of Otec FM’s afternoon shows ‘Asem Beba Dabi’ on Tuesday April 10, 2018, said DJ Slim got pregnant with the footballer after four months into relationship, and after consultations, Puyol offered her some concoction which she took in that fateful day.
“After taking the concoction in her boyfriend’s room, she fell asleep and the boyfriend left for football training session. After returning, her boyfriend found DJ Slim in the pool of blood unconscious, he quickly rushed her to the New Edubiase Government Hospital where he was pronounced death upon arrival by the doctor on duty,” he narrated.
“Puyol took to his heels when he was told DJ Slim was dead but was later apprehended by New Edubiase Police command in an attempt to commit suicide in the bush,” he continued.
The body of the deceased is currently at New Edubiase Government Hospital morgue pending autopsy whiles Puyor is in New Edubiase Police custody assisting them in their investigation.
