Otumfuo gets Ghana Card

Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has received his Ghana card.

The card was issued to the monarch on Monday, 9 July 2018, after he had passed through the necessary processes for registration.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II was registered at the Manhyia palace in Kumasi by officials of the National Identification Authority (NIA) led by Executive Director Prof. Ken Agyeman Attafuah.

Some of his sub-chiefs also took the opportunity to register for their cards.

Speaking earlier in a meeting with the staff of the NIA before registration, the Asantehene called on the Authority to intensify education on the card and explain to Ghanaians the need for them to get registered.

He said all the remote areas in the country should be visited by the NIA to ensure that every citizen is issued with the card.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu also called on government to provide the NIA with the needed resources for them to embark on a successful registration.

The Asantehene pledged his support for the NIA to ensure that the registration exercise becomes successful.
