Expired relief food: Sack the NADMO boss and his deputies -APJ demands

A Techiman based  NPP  pressure group Action Patriot for Justice (APJ) is calling for the heads  National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) Eric Nana Agyeman- Prempeh and his deputies for erroneously supervising the distribution of expired relief goods to flood victims in the area.

A statement signed the group’s Chairman Oheneba Appiagyei Donkor reads, ‘ ‘We read with shock and dismay over the gross incompetence and negligence displayed by the Office of the National Disaster Management Organization headed by Mr Eric Agyeman-Prempeh in the Wa Municipality’’.

The presentation was made by Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in the three Northern Regions last weekend.

However, the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) admitted it takes full responsibility for the mistake as it erroneously added some expired cooking oil to food items presented to flood victims in Wa at the weekend.

NADMO has accordingly initiated a move to immediately withdraw the expired cooking oil and supply the flood victims with new ones.

According to NADMO, the expired cooking oil had been isolated at the warehouse in Wa awaiting authentication by the internal auditor, before they could be disposed-off.

However, when loading boys were picking the items for distribution to the flood victims, they erroneously picked six expired cooking oil and added them to the items.

But APJ in a statement observed that ‘’you embarrass your Vice President by causing him to present expired products to flood victims. And you keep your job’’?

SACK THE NADMO BOSS AND HIS DEPUTIES, APJ DEMANDS

We read with shock and dismay over the gross incompetence and negligence displayed by the Office of the National Disaster Management Organization headed by Mr Eric Agyeman-Prempeh in the Wa Municipality.

It will be recalled that, his Excellency, the vice-president, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia paid a courtesy call on the people at the Northern region over the weekend and

As part of his activities, Dr. Bawumia was scheduled to visit the Bagre damn flood victims and present some relief items to them.

We woke up in the next morning only to be told that, some of the relief items which were edible have expired and one wonders how these expired items found their way into the items meant for the flood victims which were presented by the second gentleman of the land.

After the news of this  repulsive and disgraceful incident broke out, the NADMO office swiftly and openly admitted that, indeed, the said items have expired and were mistakenly added to the vice president’s items by the “loading boys”

APJ is of the view that, this disgusting incident is not only disgraceful to the person of the vice-president, but the presidency as a whole.

It is a planned agenda to bring humiliation to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and also tarnish his hard worn reputation.

Only God knows what could have happened and the number of souls  we could have lost if these expired items were not detected early before they were consumed.

We condemn this careless act and call on the NADMO boss, Mr Eric Agyemang Prempeh and all his deputies to do the honorable thing by resigning with immediate effect because, we cannot substitute serious business with negligence and incompetence.

We call on the national security and the other security agencies to come together and  probe further into  this matter to make sure it never happens again.

We urge the vice-president to be resolute, firm and diligent in his quest to help liberate Ghana from all the  economic hardships.
