Staff of Fair Wages strike over unfair Single Spine Migration
Staff of the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission are on a sit down strike to protest their migration onto the single spine salary structure.
The staff of the agency are not happy with the little engagement leading to their migration unto the payment scheme.
A source told Starr Business’ Osei Owusu Amankwaah that the current package which has been presented will make them worse off.
“We sit at the negotiation table for all professionals. We know what they are getting so why are we being given far less than what we give other professional. This package is so not fair to us and management must respectfully take a second look at it” the source said.
They are therefore asking management to take a second look at their package or resort to the proposal from the constitutional review committee white paper which suggested that a body be set up to negotiate for workers to prevent any issue of conflict of interest.
“We will go to work but we won’t engage in any meaningful activity until we hear something positive from mismanagement. We are not asking for too much. We want to be treated fairly,” the source added.
The Managing Director of the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission, Dr. Edward Kwarpong has told Starr Business the company’s board will be meeting over the disturbances.
