Kumasi Kejetia flooded less than four years after completion

Pressure has been mounted on authorities in the Ashanti Region and the Managers of Kejetia New Market to explain how the multimillion facility floods anytime it rains.
Residents and traders in the region have expressed their disgust over how the newly constructed Kejetia Market have constantly flooded during rainy season.
Dr Collings Kankam Kwarteng, a Marketing lecturer at the Kumasi Technical University is the latest person to join calls on authorities to come out with comprehensive explanation as to why the facility faulty.
“As good managers you don’t have to wait for people to wage war on you before you come out with explanation on why the area is flooding” he said this on the “Nyansapo” show on Kumasi based OTEC FM.
The new Kejetia market according report by OTEC News Kwame Agyenim Boateng was spotted flooded once again after an approximately 30 minutes of a heavy downpour in Kumasi on sunday March 14, 2021
That particular section of the facility according to traders in the market floods anytime there is a heavy rain.
At about 7am on monday morning, many of the traders who had come to open their various shops to begin business were left stranded as the flood had taken over the forecourts of their shops.
Waging into the woes of the traders the panel member on the Kumasi based OTEC FM’s morning show said it was a gross disrespect for managers of the market to keep mute in situations like this.
“I personally expect authorities in the market to give detailed accounts of why the facility Floods to keep the traders in the known”
He added that the information if providing will help traders in the facility to plan well and avoid losing their wares to flooding especially during rainy seasons.
He however urged authorities in the Region to call the contractor who worked on the project to fix the anormally as soon as possible.
