Agenda 111: Prez break grounds for hospital projects

President Nana Akuffo-Addo on Tuesday August 17, 2021 cut sod at Trede in the Atwima Kwanwoma District in the Ashanti Region for the construction some of 111 hospital under the NPP led government’s Agenda 111 initiative.
At a press briefing earlier this week, Information minister Hon. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah confirmed that first blocks would be layed by the president.

According to him, an amount of $100 million has been secured for the project.
The decision to construct the Agenda 111 hospitals was announced in President’s 8th Covid-19 address on 26th April, 2020.

Earlier, the project was Agenda 88 which was to see the construction of 88 hospitals for Districts without hospitals was later revised to Agenda 111 by government to add more Districts and the newly created regions.

Speaking at the sod cutting ceremony of the Atwima Kwanwoma District hospital which is part of the Agenda 111, President Akufo-Addo pledged his commitment to ensure that every Ghanaian get access to quality health care regardless the community. He says it is his topmost priority to make Ghana a health hub in west Africa.

President Akufo-Addo however added that the Agenda 111 projects when completed will provide about 20,000 direct jobs for various health professionals and also several indirect jobs to indigens at various districts. He described the Agenda 111 as the biggest health investment ever and promised that more of such investment is underway especially with Health education.

The president ending his speech called on Ghanaians to continue adhering to all the Covid-19 safety protocols to avoid a third wave as the disease is still in our midst.

Cheif of Trede, Nana Nnoben Nsera lll in his acceptance speech lauded President Akufo-Addo and his NPP government for their good performance so far and pledged his support. He believes the Akufo-Addo government has performed well and needs to be commended and supported.

The colorful event was attended by the chief of staff Frema Osei Opare, Asantehene’s representative Nana Achina Kwagyan (chief of Asuowin), Sarbin Akrofromhene Nana Osei Kofi, ministers and deputy ministers and other dignitaries.
