Takoradi ‘pregnant woman’ to police: I wanted to please my husband

The police have disclosed that Josephine Panyin Mensah (Simons), the 28-year-old woman at the center of the supposed nine-month pregnancy and kidnapping said she did all that to “satisfy” her husband.
The story of Josephine Mensah has gone viral after it was reported last week that she went missing in Takoradi and later found at Axim all in the Western Region.
In his first interview on the matter, the Western Regional Minister, Kwamena Okyere Darko-Mensah said the whole story was a hoax. The police subsequently confirmed that and arrested the woman on Friday (24 September) after two tests proved she was never pregnant.
Speaking to Asaase News’s Beatrice Adu on Saturday (25 September), the acting Director of Public Affairs for the Ghana Police Service, ACP Kwesi Ofori, said they would respect the law even as the suspect stays behind bars.
“She said it was her own plans and machinations,” ACP Ofori said.
He added: “She’s behind bars and has been cautioned before an independent witness. According to her, it was a family issue and just wanted to satisfy her husband. We’ll respect the provisions of the law.”
