Women in aviation educated on breast cancer

On Thursday October 21, 2021, Delta Air Lines in partnership with Breast Care International (BCI), an international advocacy group educated workers at the airport on breast cancer. 

 BCI, famous led by Dr. (Mrs.) Beatrice Wiafe Addai, the Chairperson for Ghana Non-Communicable Disease Alliance urged women in Aviation at the Kotoka International Airport to take the care of their breasts as a serious and a daily exercise.

She noted that cancers develop unnoticed and that early detection of same presents the best of options for treatment.

Dr Wiafe, an acclaimed surgeon said, “a daily examination of the breasts is key to discovering any anomaly when same is developing”.

DETAILS:

The BCI President hinted of how early detection of breast cancer had helped in terms of treatment.

She noted many women who may have lost their breasts ordinarily had gotten a lifeline because they reported cases early for treatment at the hospital

Treatment, Dr Wiafe stated was available at health centers for persons discovered to have problems with the breasts.

She noted that, “due to the sensitization efforts of BCI in Ghana many have gotten to know about the disease as well as remedies available”.

DELTA AIR LINES REP:

Addressing the women in Aviation, Delta Air Lines Management member noted his delight to be part of breast cancer awareness creation exercise.

He noted, “it’s wonderful to see all of you here showing your support for such an important cause. I have seen first-hand the incredible work Breast Care International has done and they are saving lives here in Ghana”. 

He added that, “we have supported BCI for five years and we’re proud that our partnership is enabling the charity to help women and men who wouldn’t otherwise have access to screening programmes and seek treatment”

He charged the women to go fir screening of the breasts since October was the month of breat Care.

“If you haven’t done so already, I encourage you to take advantage of them here today”, he intimated. 

BACKGROUND:

Giving a background of the partnership with BCI, the Delta Air Lines representative said, “through our partnership, many thousands of people have been screened with many suspected cases found”. 

He stated that catching breast cancer early is the key to a cure.

Delta Air lines marks the occasion of October by turning pink in their outfits.

This include decorations and pink uniforms at terminal 3, check-in and gate areas as well. 

Delta decorates its airport staff and flight attendants as well as teams also with pink uniforms and raise money around the world to fund research programmes in their specially designed pink plane.
