Sachet water to be sold at 50 pesewas from September 19
The National Association of Sachet and Packaged Water Producers, has announced 66 per cent Increment in the prices of sachet water popularly known as “pure water”.
The price of 500ml bottled water is also to sell at Gh¢ 2 instead of the previous price of Gh¢ 1.50 representing 33 per cent increment.
Per the new adjustment, 500ml pack of sachet water which used to sell at a retail price of Gh¢7 will now sell at Gh¢ 9, averaging 28 per cent increment.
The association in a press release copied to OTEC News on Wednesday September 14, 2022 said the upward adjustment of their prices is to take effect from September, 19, 2022.
The reviewed prices, according to the group, have been necessitated by the rising cost of inputs such as fuel and packaging materials, which are mainly imported and produced from petroleum sources.
“The price reviews have been necessitated by rising cost of inputs such as fuel and packaging materials which are mainly IMPORTED, increases in electricity and water which take effect from September 1, 2022”.
“At our previous review in March 2022, the dollar was in the region of 8.5ghc. Currently it is inching up to 10ghc. Fuel prices have significantly gone up since our last review. It was 9 and now it is 14.5ghc, which is 61 % change since. March 23, 2022”.
“The suggested adjustment is to help producers cover their production costs.
We appreciate the difficulties our consumers have to go through to endure these hardships. We appeal to all to bare with us”. The statement said.
