Angry Minister blasts man for drying cocoa beans on highway

The Ashanti Regional Minister Hon Simon Osei Mensah has caused the arrest of a 42-year-old man for drying cocoa beans in the middle of a newly constructed road at Ntobroso in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region
The suspect, Domonic Adu-boi was arrested on Tuesday November 8,2022 when he denied a request by the minister to remove the cocoa beans in the middle of the road.

Dominic after refusing to clear the beans exchanged words with the minister, insulting him the(minister) in the process.
Hon Simon Osei Mensah who was on a day’s tour of the Atwima Mponua District to inspect some ongoing road works by the Sinohydro Construction Limited, got to Ntobroso and saw some individuals drying cocoa beans in the middle of a newly constructed road.

Infuriated by their act, the Minister got down from his car and instructed owners of the cocoa beans to clear it immediately.
Dominic who was the first to come to the scene begun asking what authority the Minister has to ask them to stop drying the beans in the middle of the road.

Dominic who is now at police custody at the Central Police Station used unprintable words for the minister and his entourage forcing the police officer guarding the minster to arrest and hand him over to police.

“Who are you to tell us not to dry cocoa in the middle of a road that belongs to all of us, what will you do if we say no?, Or you thing drying cocoa beans is the same as engaging in galamsey activities!!”.

“Even if you were to arrest me, i will go and come back to dry the beans here again” He said.
The assembly member of the area together with some opinion leaders intervene and called Dominic to order and asked him to apologize to the minister and his entourage and also pack the cocoa beans but he refused.
He was subsequently arrested and sent to the regional police command for further action.
