Sam Pyne, Kumasi Mayor
The Mayor of Kumasi, Hon Samuel Pyne says ensuring that Kumasi is safe and clean are two important issues that preoccupy his mind daily.
Speaking to Akuoko Kwarteng, political show host at Kessben 93.3fm, Hon Pyne said nothing beats having a safe and clean environment to work from.
Currently, he revealed that large trucks and bins which are to ensure the KMA deals with filth separation as well as garbage have arrived at the port at Tema.
‘’I am happy to inform the people of Kumasi that trucks and bins as well as others that would enable us separate degradable and other forms of trash have arrived at the port and very soon the KMA would be able to deal very well with sanitation issues as we also look to construct some compost sites to handle the large volumes of filth we collect in the metropolis’’, the Mayor stated.
Security:
On security, the Mayor noted that the KMA has started lighting up dark places and communities within the metropolis.
He noted that Asafo Market and some portions within the central business district of Adum which were dark had been tackled with street lights.
He noted that the KMA has identified some areas where thieves have been using as den and would soon light up those places.
‘’It is my desire to see all places in the metropolis well lit at night so that we can completely eliminate the nasty thievery that happens in some of the communities and places in the metropolis’’, the Mayor stressed.
Politics:
On politics, the Mayor confirmed his desire to represent the people of Suame as Member of Parliament in the next elections in 2024.
He was confident that he would win the internal polls when the way was clear for the people to pick nominations and contest.
The Mayor said he had learnt a lot from his elder brother, the Majority leader in Parliament, Mr Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu and would want to follow after him.
‘’I am going the full hog since the leader is not going again and I am sure the people of Suame would gladly endorse my candidature when my party clears the way for the internal primaries to be conducted’’, the Hon Pyne stated.
