Kumasi: Gas tanker catches fire, driver and conductor rushed to hospital

A Gas Tanker transporting 55,500 liters of gas has been burned down by fire on at Sokoban Ampeyoo in the Kumasi Metropolis of the Ashanti Region.

The tanker according to report caught fire after it turned upside-down in a fatal accident on Thursday February 9,2023.

Two persons, that is the driver and the driver’s mate sustained minor injuries in the accident.

The Assembly member of the area Hon Kwabena Boateng in an interview with OTEC News Jacob Agyenim Boateng disclosed that, the tanker burst one of its front tyre leading to the accident.

He added that, no casualties were recorded apart from the car which wad burnt down.

Meanwhile the Ghana Police Service together with the Ghana National Fire Service GNFS have blocked the highway from Sokoban to Kwanwoma Aboabo after the fuel tanker caught fire.

The Ashanti Regional Minister Public Relations Officer for the GNFS, DO3 Peter Addai said it took over four fire tenders to bring the fire on control.
He cautioned all approaching motorists on the road from Accra to exercise patience and adhere to traffic directions from traffic Police Officers at the scene of the incident.
