Kwadwo Oppong Nkrumah, Information Minister

Information Minister Kwadwo Oppong Nkrumah says government’s negotiation with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) will not affect the Agenda 111 project.

According to him all facilities under the Agenda 111 project will be completed despite going under the IMF  conditionalities.

The Member of Parliament for Ofoase Ayirebi disclosed this during the Minister’s Press briefing on Thursday June 29, 2023 at Trede in the Ashanti Region.

“Government through the Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund had already set up a special purpose vehicle to cater for the funding of these projects “.

“Due to this any contractor who is doing his or her work to the satisfaction of government is being paid and i can assure you that the IMG negotiations has no effect on the projects”

The Minister together with Presidential Advisor on Health, Dr Anthony Nsiah Asare ahead of the press brief had visited about 33 agenda 111 project sites to get first hand information of work on the various projects.

Addressing the media, Hon Oppong Nkrumah said 88 out of the ‘Agenda 111 ‘ hospitals are progressing steadily.

He disclosed that challenges in acquiring lands for the projects however affected work on some of the projects adding that government will continue to explore ways to begin the rest of the projects.

Termination of Contracts

Hon Oppong Nkrumah again revealed that three contractors’ contracts for the Agenda 111 hospital projects in the Ashanti region have been terminated by the government.

At Kunsu in the Ahafo Ano South-West District, Manso Adubia in the Amansie South District, and Nsuta in the Sekyere Central District of the Ashanti Region, the contractors were working on the projects.

He noted that, the contractors did not satisfy the Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and so had their contracts bounced.
