Asafo fish sellers threaten demonstration against ECG over intermittent power cuts

Some fish sellers at the Asafo Market in the Kumasi Metropolis of the Ashanti Region have threatened strike action against the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) over the recent intermittent power cuts in the region.

According to the market traders, the situation is impacting their businesses negatively, saying, “our business are collapsing of the power outages caused by ECG in the region.

They indicated that their customers do not buy from us when they come and find out that our products are thaw, leading to huge losses of income.

We are also losing customers as a result of the recent power outages, they added.

Speaking to OTEC news, Tracey Essel and Nancy Boamaah, the traders revealed that they have provided the jobs to a number of youth which has reduced unemployment rate in the country, adding that all they can do is to lay off workers if they keep losing because of low income.
