Election 2024: ”Stop pressuring Bawumia to choose your preferred people as running mate” – Patriotic Movement for Bawumia

A group of New Patriotic Party executives at various levels of the party’s hierarchy, grassroots members of the party, and non-party members who are sympathizers of Dr. Bawumia’s candidature have sent their wise counsel to the NPP’s 2024 flag-bearer to shrug off pressure from groups and individuals in the party mounted on him to choose their preferred candidates as his running mate.

The pro-NPP group says the earlier the running mate is named the better for the party to hit grounds with intense campaign that will aid their victory in the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections

Address the media in a press conference at Kumasi, on Sunday April 21, 2024, the group emphasized that getting a running now will afford the party to cover more grounds with their campaign as whoever is chosen by Dr Mahamadu Bawumia will also comb the country to propagate the party’s messages.

Conveyor for the group, who doubles as the second vice Chairperson for the Oforikrom Constituency, Mr James Aggrey Fiifi Eshun during the address cautioned Dr Bawumia not to fall for any pressure by those lobbying for the position

He described as unnecessary how some individuals a making publicity stunts just to catch the attention of the flagbearer

He cautioned that, the running mate position of NPP “is not up for contest” and that the lobbying and advertisement for candidates must therefore cease.

 “Pressure on Bawumia to name running mate is unnecessary. We should give him the opportunity to select a person of his own. It is not a race so we should stop that advertisement of candidates,” he urged.
