Bosomtwe District: Powerful rainstorm kills girl, 15, at Jarchie
A 15-year old girl has died following a heavy rainstorm at Jarchie in the Bosomtwe District of the Ashanti Region.
The deceased reported died after she collapsed when the community experienced a deadly lighting attack during the torrential rainfall.
The rainstorm according to residents collapsed five houses with over 200 others having its roof ripped off in the process.
The Assembly Member for Jarchie East Electoral Area, Hon Richard Bimpeh(Chikata), in an interview with OTEC News Reporter Jacob Agyenim Boateng said the said incident occurred on Thursday May 17, 2024.
He noted that, Hundreds of residents Ave been displaced after the disaster.
He revealed that, properties amounting to thousands of Ghana cedis have also been destroyed by the heavy storm.
The Assembly Member has called on the National Disaster Management Organization NADMO, cooperated organizations and other state agencies to as a matter of urgency support the affected people.
