Taxi unions operating at Bantama and Race Course markets in Kumasi are calling on the presidential flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to select Akosua Frema Osei-Opare as the running mate for the December 2024 presidential elections.
According to the unions the Chief of Staff has shown her leadership qualities such as kindness, care, competence, benevolence, and love to people of all political divide, so they would want her to partner Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
Citing example of her care, love and humanitarianism, they said their taxi ranks were made comfortable and motorable for them by the Chief of staff who solely financed the construction works when she learnt about the bad working conditions.
During a press conference on Thursday, spokesperson for the Unions, Agya Appiah, prayed that Dr Mahamudu Bawumia selects Akosua Frema Osei-Opare for December polls, which has been described as crucial, as the party wants to ‘break the eight’.
He added that “anyone who will be selected as the running mate position from Ashanti region, the political base of NPP, should be someone who possess good leadership skills with vision to turn things around in difficulty times, and Frema Opare cannot be bypassed”.
Agya Appiah posited Akosua Frema Osei-Opare has unquestionable characters, both in social and political life, and has displayed much competence for eight years as Chief of Staff.
This, the spokesperson continued “makes it imperative for the NPP leadership to choose her (Frema Opare) as the best person who is competently fit to partner with Dr Bawumia to win the 2024 presidential elections”.
“We have thrown our support for Madam Frema Osei-Opare because we are convinced she would be the best person who would see for the good welfare of Ghanaians. We are living witnesses to her good deeds and kindness”, Agya Appiah emphasised.
“We are by this press conference appealing to the leadership of our party (NPP) and Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to ensure that Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, whose trademarks can make it easy for the party to the forthcoming presidential elections, is selected”, he stated.
