Larbec International Academy pupils sensitize Asokwa community on environmental cleanliness
Pupils of Larbec International Academy at Fabi in the Asokwa municipal in the Ashanti region have sensitized the community on environmental cleanliness.
The campaign, with the support of the school management, was to draw the attention of the residents to good environmental practices to protect the environment.
The children embarking on the exercise picked litter, distilled choked gutters, and held placards with some inscriptions “Keep Your Environment Clean”, Cleanliness Should Be Our Everyday Option” among others.
The exercise was to create awareness in support of World Environmental Day, which is celebrated on June 5, annually.
The day aims at raising awareness and celebrating environmental action, with a focus this year on land restoration, desertification, and resilience.
The head teacher of Larbec International Academy Kofi Gyansah in an interview with Otec News said the exercise was also to instill environmental cleanliness in the children.
According to him, cleanliness habits prevent the spread of illnesses and infections, ensuring a healthy learning environment.
“Teaching children cleanliness habits early on helps them develop lifelong routines, a clean environment improves focus and productivity, leading to better academic performance” he continued.
Kofi Gyansah further said “Cleanliness teaches children to respect their surroundings, peers, and themselves, and skills prepare children for independence, self-care, and responsibility.
“Teaching children to keep their surroundings clean promotes environmental consciousness; cleanliness education complements hygiene lessons, promoting comprehensive understanding”, he concluded.
Some of the children who spoke to Otec News were excited about participating in an exercise that protects environmental cleanliness and will enhance their health and academic performance.
