The 1982 year group of Afia Kobi Ampem Girls SHS, formerly Atwimaman SHS, has commissioned a state-of-the-art multipurpose basketball court for their alma mater.
The facility, which can also be used for long tennis, was built at a cost of 350,000 new cedis.
Board Chairperson for the school and a leading member of the 1982 year group, Madam Felicia Agyeman Dapaa in an interview with OTEC News Reporter Jacob Agyenim Boateng at the sidelines of the event emphasized that the project aims to nurture talents for the country.
Aside creating talent for the region and the country, we strongly believe it will also foster healthy competition among students”. He said during the opening of the facility on Friday July 5, 2024.
She highlighted that the court symbolizes the enduring spirit of community and legacy of those who received quality education from the school.

The Deputy Education Director for the Ashanti Region, Mr. Yeboah Boateng, speaking on behalf of the Minister of Education, commended the 1982 year group for their initiative in commissioning a multipurpose basketball court for their alma mater.
Mr. Boateng encouraged other groups and organizations to emulate the gesture, supporting the government’s efforts to improve the education system in the country.

The Headmistress of the school, Emelia Denutsui, expressed her gratitude to the association for the facility
Highlighting the numerous infrastructural projects undertaken by the group, including modern toilet facilities, tiling of the school roads, scholarship schemes, and more Madam Emelia said the school is lucky to have such a vibrant alumni
“The commissioning of the basketball court demonstrates the alumni’s commitment to giving back to their alma mater and contributing to the development of the school.”
