TUSAAG threatens nationwide strike by end of September over unmet demands

The Technical University Senior Administrators’ Association of Ghana (TUSAAG) is threatening a nationwide strike by the end of September 2024 if their demands are not met.

In a statement dated September 8, 2024, TUSAAG expressed frustration over the government’s failure to honour their collective bargaining agreement despite numerous promises.

TUSAAG cited the government’s refusal to implement revised allowances for senior members of public universities, directed by the Ministry of Finance in May 2024, as a clear violation of their rights.

Also, an addendum to their collective bargaining agreement was signed in July 2024, but the government has yet to implement these changes.

The association further alleged discrimination in the payment of common allowances due to unions of the same class of workers at public universities.

TUSAAG demands payment of agreed-upon rates for vehicle maintenance, off-campus, fuel, utility, and sanitation/security allowances.

TUSAAG has resolved to declare a nationwide strike action if these payments are not reflected in the validation of September 2024 salaries.
