Politicizing Licensure Exams Puts Ghana’s Education at Risk – NTC

The Registrar for the National Teaching Council (NTC), Dr. Addae Mensah, has warned that sacrificing the Teacher Licensure Examination for political reasons may compromise Ghana’s teaching quality.

Dr. Addae Mensah, cautions that scrapping the Teacher Licensure Examination for political gain will compromise Ghana’s education standards, emphasizing that the exam’s rigorous evaluation is crucial to ensuring top-notch teaching professionals.

He noted that Ghanaian teachers are highly sought after in Africa due to the NTC’s robust measures, including the licensure exams.

Dr. Mensah emphasized that the exams ensure only qualified teachers are engaged.

Speaking at the Teachers Prize Symposium in the Ashanti Region on October 3, 2024, he assured that the NTC’s measures are among the world’s best, stressing that teacher requirements must be as rigorous as other professions.
