Cholera Outbreak: 35 people dead, 4,155 others infected – GHS
The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has provided an update on the outbreak of cholera across the country.
In its update, the Ghana Health Service revealed that the outbreak has been recorded in the Greater Accra, Central, Eastern, Western, and Ashanti Regions.
According to the statement from GHS as of 23 December 2024, 4,155 suspected cases have been recorded with 35 deaths
With 17 recorded deaths, the Western Region is the most affected.
According to the GHS, 662,906 individuals in the Western Region have received vaccinations out of the 792,482 eligible population.
The GHS has activated the National Public Health Emergency Operation Centre on a national scale as part of the steps to stop the outbreak from spreading.
It has also activated the Public Health Emergency Management Committee (PHEMC) in all the affected regions and districts.
