Transport Minister commends IOP Group of Companies for collaborating with government to strengthen Ghana’s transportation

The Minister of Transport, Hon Kwaku Ofori Asiamah, has commended the management of IOP Group of Companies for collaborating with the government to strengthen Ghana’s transportation infrastructure.

He stated that the IOP Group of Companies, a private company that owns and operates GH Express Transport Limited, has purchased buses and built bus terminals to help the country prosper.

He said the IOP Group of Companies, a private company that operates GH Express Transport Services Limited, has for some years procured buses and constructed bus terminals for the company’s development.
Kwaku Ofori Asiamah stated that “an improved road transport system enables the smooth movement of goods and services across the country, thus facilitating trade and commerce.”
He thus called on individuals and private companies “to partner with the government by investing in the road sector to address challenges, promote sustainable development, and improve the lives of Ghanaians.”
Hon. Kwaku Ofori Asiamah said this on Friday during the official commissioning of the GH Express ultra-modern bus terminal at Fante New Town (Labour) in the Kumasi metropolis in the Ashanti region.
The bus terminal constructed by the GH-Express Transport Services Limited will be operated by Inter City Coaches Limited and will provide travelers with a safe, reliable, and convenient bus terminal.
The three-story facility consists of resting rooms, an eatery, a sick bay, shopping malls, an event center, a banking center, and parcel service, among others.
In his speech, Joseph Sackey, the CEO of GH Express Transport Services Limited, stated that the facility will give passengers the support they require to ensure a comfortable travel experience.
He claimed that since this project is the first of its sort in the Ashanti region, more will be built in the regional capitals to change Ghana’s road transportation system.
According to Joseph Sackey, additional transport companies will soon be allowed to work alongside STC Inter City-Coaches at the Kumasi terminal, “as long as they are willing to adhere to the specified terms and conditions.”
He posited that many a time beautiful projects like the GH Express Bus Terminal are not able to serve the purpose for which they were established due to lack of routine maintenance, but was quick to add that the facility will not suffer that fate.
“We want to assure you that the project will not suffer such a fate. We will keep enhancing the terminal’s facilities with the view to providing first-class,a lack cutting-edge facilities that will ensure continuous provision of excellent customer service,” Mr Sackey promised.
The Managing Director of Inter City STC Coaches Limited Nana Akomea was grateful to GH Express for the new bus terminal in Kumasi.
He said the facility would facilitate convenient travel for passengers and improve the operations of Inter City STC in the country.
“I would also entreat the workers of STC to treat customers and passengers with respect and professionalism to maintain the goodwill of STC,” he added.
The chief of Kumasi Asafo, Akyamfour Asafo Agyemang Bonsu Boakye, who chaired the event, said the collaboration between STC and GH Express will boost the economic activities in the Ashanti.
“The new bus terminal will enhance connectivity between Kumasi and other parts of the country, facilitating the transportation of goods and people,” he explained.
