Government declares Tuesday, 7th January 2025 as a statutory holiday

Government has declared Tuesday, January 7, 2025, as a public holiday to mark Constitution Day.
The information was contained in a statement issued by the Interior Minister, Hon Henry Quartey , on January 2, 2025.
The Constitution Day is a new Public Holiday, was observed for the first time in Ghana in 2019.
The day was declared as a holiday under Section 2 of the Public Holiday Act, 2001 (Act 601).
January 7 marks the coming into effect of the 1992 Constitution and the birth of the Fourth Republic in 1993.
The newly designated holiday is intended to remind Ghanaians of their commitment to upholding the rule of law, constitutionalism and democracy.
The public is, however, expected to observe the day as such.
