My govt will be Ghana’s most leanest and efficient – Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama has assured Ghanaians that his administration will be the leanest and most efficient in the country’s history.

This pledge aligns with his decision to limit ministerial nominations to a total of 60. So far, the president has nominated 42 ministers, with 18 more expected to follow.

The appointees, part of the first batch of ministerial nominees approved by Parliament, include:

Dr Cassiel Ato Forson as Minister for Finance
Dr Dominic Ayine as Attorney General
John Jinapor as Minister for Energy and Green Transition
Haruna Iddrisu as Minister for Education
Eric Opoku as Minister for Food and Agriculture
Governs Kwame Agbodza as Minister for Roads and Highways

Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony for six ministers at the Jubilee House in Accra on Wednesday, January 22, President Mahama stated, “As the ministers are approved by Parliament and as they are sworn in, I will proceed to name deputy ministers for some of the ministries, which will bring the total number of ministers to 60.”

He added, “As I promised the people of Ghana, this will make this government Ghana’s leanest and most efficient government ever.”

President Mahama’s commitment to a streamlined government reflects his goal of enhancing productivity and ensuring effective governance.

The reduction in the number of ministers is anticipated to improve operational efficiency and reduce the administrative burden on the state.
