A/R: 47 impostors arrested for posing as military, national security operatives to extort monies at mining sites

Captain (Retired) John Kwame Jabari, Ashanti Regional Security Coordinator, has announced the arrest of 47 individuals for impersonating military and national security personnel at mining sites in the region.
The suspects are currently assisting the Ghana Police Service with investigations.
The arrests come after small-scale miners in the region raised concerns about individuals claiming to be national security operatives extorting money from them.
Speaking on Kumasi-based OTEC 102.9 FM’s morning show Nyansapo, hosted by Isaac Osei Akoto aka Kanu, on Thursday March 20, 2025, Captain Jabari assured that the regional security apparatus is committed to flushing out those impeding the government’s fight against illegal mining.
Captain Jabari, a seasoned security expert and former military officer, has been instrumental in maintaining regional security and stability.
His efforts, along with the government’s intensified efforts to collaborate with legal miners, aim to prevent illegal mining activities and promote a safer, more secure environment for legitimate mining operations.
