NRSA cautions road users ahead of Eid al-Fitr celebrations

The National Road Safety Authority (NRSA) has extended its congratulations to Muslims across Ghana for their dedication and perseverance throughout the 30 days of Ramadan fasting.
In a statement, the Authority commended the Muslim community for upholding values of spirituality, discipline, and compassion, emphasizing that these principles are essential in promoting road safety.
“As we approach the joyous occasion of Eid al-Fitr, we join in the celebrations with prayers for peace, good health, and the right attitude to ensure safety during this festive period,” the NRSA stated.
With increased movement expected during the celebrations, the NRSA cautioned that heightened road activity could lead to a surge in accidents if safety measures are not strictly observed.
The Authority, therefore, urged all road users to prioritize safety, emphasizing the need for responsible behavior to ensure an incident-free celebration.
“We encourage all drivers and motorcyclists to refrain from overloading, speeding, and engaging in dangerous driving or reckless riding,” the statement read. “Pedestrians are also advised to avoid jaywalking and use designated crossing points, such as zebra crossings and pedestrian footbridges.”
The NRSA reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with law enforcement agencies and other stakeholders to ensure a safe environment for all road users throughout and beyond the festive period.
The Authority extended its best wishes to the Muslim community, hoping for a joyous, peaceful, and safe Eid al-Fitr celebration.
