Adventist SHS shooting: Weapon found, police question student and his father

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has launched an investigation into a shooting incident that occurred on Friday, April 4, 2025, at Adventist Senior High School at Bantama in Kumasi.
According to initial reports, a 16-year-old second-year student brought a locally manufactured pistol, loaded with BB ammunition, to school. The student allegedly showed the firearm to a classmate, and during the exchange, the weapon accidentally discharged, injuring another student.
The injured student was immediately treated at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital and is currently in stable condition. The suspect, whose name has been withheld, has been arrested, and police have recovered the empty cartridge as evidence.
In his statement, the juvenile suspect revealed that he took the weapon from his father’s bedroom without his father’s knowledge. Authorities are now working to locate and arrest the father to assist with their investigation.
The police have assured that they will continue their inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the incident, and updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
