Initially known as Trabuom Secondary School, its name was later changed to reflect its location within a traditional area, becoming Atwimamam Secondary School

In 2002/2003, the school transitioned from a mixed school to an all-girls institution and was renamed Afia Kobi Ampem Girls’ Senior High School in honor of the Queen Mother of the Ashanti Kingdom, who is the biological mother of His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

The school’s motto is “Leadership and Service.” Located at Trede, the institution remains committed to its mission and vision.
