Ashanti Region MoMo murders: Prosecution awaits AG’s advice, case adjourned to 7 May

The trial of seven people accused of murdering two mobile money vendors in the Ashanti Region has been adjourned by the Asokwa District Court.

The victims, Patricia Nimako and Gideon Owusu Sarpong, were killed in separate attacks in Krofrom and Kwadaso on 13 February and 10 March 2025, respectively.

The suspects appeared under heavy security on Wednesday (23 April), as the court heard that the case had been referred to the Attorney General’s Department for legal advice.

The suspects remain in custody while police investigations continue. They are expected to reappear in court on 7 May.

Family members of the deceased, who were present at the hearing, expressed satisfaction with the progress of the investigation and the arrests made so far. However, they also voiced their grief and concern over the financial toll of the killings.

Relatives say some of the stolen funds belonged to customers and will now need to be reimbursed.
