Adum Bluelight fire victims lost over GHC900 Million – Regional Minister

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon. Dr. Frank Amoakohene, has revealed that the Adum Bluelight fire incident claimed over GHC900 million in startup capital alone.

Traders at Adum Bluelight in the Kumasi Metropolis recorded a devastating fire incident in March 2025, destroying properties worth millions of cedis.

The fire has since displaced over 2,000 traders, with many losing their capital.

Dr. Frank Amoakohene disclosed this when he joined the Ghana National Fire Service to mark the International Firefighters Day at Atonsu on May 5, 2025.

Addressing the officers, Dr. Amoakohene said other landmark fire incidents have caused havoc in the region, with the one at Konongo claiming properties worth GHC10 million.
The Minister, however, commended the fire officers for their commitment to protecting lives and properties.
He pledged government support to the fire officers, assuring them of firefighting equipment to help them work effectively.
Dr. Amoakohene disclosed that most of the fire tenders that were not in commission have been fixed.
He added that the government is working on getting equipment for the fire officers.
