Support us to honor Daasebre Osei Bonsu II with a befitting burial – Ejurahene Barimah Osei Hwedie II appeals

Ejurahene Barimah Osei Hwedie II, Chairman of the Standing Committee overseeing the planning of the final funeral rites of the late Asante Mamponghene Daasebre Osei Bonsu II, has called on Ghanaians to support Asanteman in giving the renowned chief a befitting burial.

According to him, the late Asante Mamponghene Daasebre Osei Bonsu II, who was also the second in command to the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, paid his due to the development of Ghana.

 Ejurahene Barimah Osei Hwedie II observed that Daasebre Osei Bonsu II was not only a renowned chief but also an astute lawyer and economist who contributed hugely to Ghana’s education and economic landscape.

He said this in an exclusive interview with OTEC News Reporter Jacob Agyenim Boateng following a meeting with security agencies ahead of the one-week observation of the late chief.

The Asante Mampong Traditional Council has set Monday, May 12, 2025, for the one-week observation of the late Asante Mamponghene Daasebre Osei Bonsu II.

The traditional council, as part of customs, has banned all public processions and funerals until the final funeral rites of the occupation of the Silver Stool.

Thousands of mourners, including statesmen, are expected to throng to the Asante Mampong on Monday for the event.
