Alliance for Truth, Justice, and Accountability Ghana Petitions President to Expedite Passage of Anti-LGBTQ Bill

The Alliance for Truth, Justice, and Accountability Ghana (ATJAG) has petitioned President John Dramani Mahama to expedite the passage of the Anti-LGBTQ Bill.

The group cited recent incidents of foreign visitors engaging in inappropriate behavior at the Black Star Square, a revered national monument.

In a letter to the President on Friday June 27, 2025, ATJAG expressed concerns that such actions threaten to undermine Ghana’s moral fabric and cultural values.

They urged the sponsors of the bill to forward it to Parliament for approval and called on the President to sign it into law once passed.

The group also appealed to various stakeholders, including faith-based organizations, traditional leaders, and the media, to join efforts in protecting Ghana’s cultural heritage and moral standards.

They emphasized the importance of collective action to safeguard the country’s values and protect future generations.
