E/R: Police impound two trucks carrying 150 sacks of marijuana hidden in sand

The Eastern Regional Police Command through an intelligence led operation have intercepted two (2) Howo Sino tipper trucks with registration Numbers GN 99314 and GG 3674-20 loaded with One Hundred and fifty (150) sacks containing dried leaves suspected to be Indian

According to a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Ebenezer Tetteh, the truck was intercepted on June 11, 2025 at about 7:30am.

The supected substance was concealed under trips of sand at Apesua near Nkurakan. Drivers of the tipper trucks arrested to assist investigation.

The Ghana Police Service has intensified nationwide crackdown on smuggling of drugs leading to arrest of many suspects and confiscation of large quantities of suspected drug substances across the country.
