50 years-old woman dead in galamsey pit at Mpasatia community mining site
A 50-year-old female illegal miner died after she fell into an abandoned mining pit by accident
The regrettable incident is said to have occurred on July 29, 2025, at approximately 9 a.m. at Mpasatia, in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region
The deceased, identified as Auntie Akos, was working on her daily illegal mining activities where she got trapped in a pit
For a while, she remained confined beneath the hole until some miners found her.
She was rescued by some illegal miners and rushed to Frimpong Boateng Clinic at Toase but was pronounced dead on arrival by the D9ctors at the hospital.
The body of the deceased has since been deposited at the Toase mortuary for preservation, awaiting autopsy.
