The Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) has launched a 30-day outreach programme aimed at tackling gender-based violence in the region.

The programme, themed “From Silence to Strength: Speak Up, Stand Up, Support,” kicked off on July 2 and will run until July 30, 2025.

Speaking at the conference, Chief Superintendent Victoria Yebooah, Regional DOVVSU Coordinator, stated that, “We want to assure the public that our doors are widely open to everyone who needs help”

“We understand that many people, including children, men, and women, are suffering needlessly through violence, whether verbal, psychological, sexual, or physical” .

We want to kick out gender-based violence, and we urge everyone to trust us. We don’t disclose information.”

Chief Superintendent Yebooah emphasized the importance of protecting victims’ identities, especially children, and urged the media to respect their rights.

She also encouraged those affected by gender-based violence to speak up and seek help from DOVVSU.

The 30-day outreach programme is a crucial step towards creating awareness and support for victims of gender-based violence.

She called on individuals who needs help, immediately reach out to DOVVSU for support.
