Ejisu MP calls on government to fix roads in constituency, bares heart out in parliament

Member of Parliament for Ejisu, Hon Kwabena Boateng Esq. has asked the Ministry of Roads and Highways to attend to the deplorable roads in the Ejisu Municipality with some urgency.

Delivering a statement in Parliament on Monday, the MP recalled how some roads leading to communities such as Akokoabon, Achiase, Kokoobra and many others whose construction commenced last year in constituency had suddenly been abandoned.

The MP further disclosed that contractors had left the construction sites and had taken their equipment away from the roads.

“Mr Speaker i rise to speak and to appeal to government through the Ministry of Roads and Highways to urgently attend to the roads in my constituency for us so that the people can have some relief from the dusty smoke that continue to disturb their movements and daily routines”, the MP stated.

Issues:

The MP noted that the bad roads were leading to issues such as armed robbery since drivers had had to slow down on the routes anytime they drive.

This, he stated makes them susceptible to attacks from robbers and unscrupulous persons who hide in the dark to perpetrate crime on the routes at night.

Hon Boateng also noted many drivers had abandoned the road having suffered breakdowns of their vehicles due to the terrible state of the roads in the communities.

“It is very unsettling to learn of robberies on the road due to the bad nature of same with most drivers also suffering wear and tear of their vehicles due to the poor state of the routes in the Ejisu Municipality “, Hon Boateng decried.

Background:

Recalling a recent demonstration embarked upon by the Concern Drivers of Ejisu to Parliament, Hon Boateng said the drivers complained bitterly of the nature of the roads in the communities.

He said the drivers in a petition presented to him and the MCE for Ejisu Municipality stated that they could no longer bear the cost of spare parts due to the breakdown they were experiencing on the roads.

The drivers were succumbing to the wear and tear on the road due to the bad nature of same, the MP explained.

“In a demonstration embarked upon by the Concern Drivers Association of Ejisu on the 7th of July, 2025 they complained about the constant breakdowns of their vehicles and the need for government to attend to the bad roads in the communities within the Ejisu Municipality”, the MP highlighted.

Appeal:

Meanwhile, Hon Boateng has appealed to government to treat the issue of roads in Ejisu as an urgent matter.

This, he said would not only provide the people the relief they so desire but also help to secure their livelihoods.
