A/R: Three arrested in Foase for unlawful possession of firearms

Security personnel stationed at Atwima Trabuom and Nweneso Snap Check duty post, in collaboration with the Foase Patrol Team, have arrested three individuals in connection with the unlawful possession of firearms.

The suspects, identified as Mohammed Ali (25) and Haruna Issah (42), both believed to be of Fulani descent, were apprehended on Saturday, August 17, 2025, around 4:00 p.m.
The duo was intercepted while riding an unregistered Haojin motorbike during a routine check. A search conducted on them led to the discovery of three locally made pistols concealed in a small bag belonging to Mohammed Ali.
Following their arrest, Mohammed Ali confessed during preliminary interrogation that he obtained the firearms from a blacksmith in Nkawie. Acting on this lead, police extended investigations to Nkawie, where a 55-year-old blacksmith, Yaw Appiah, was identified and subsequently arrested.
A search of Appiah’s premises yielded no further incriminating evidence, but he remains in custody as investigations continue.
All three suspects are currently in police custody assisting with investigations. The firearms have been secured and will serve as key exhibits in the case.
Authorities have assured the public that swift legal action will be taken, and the suspects will be arraigned before a competent court as soon as possible.
