Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III passes on at 98

The Asante Kingdom is in mourning following the passing of the Queen Mother, Nana Konadu Yiadom III, who died at the age of 98.

The announcement was formally made on Monday, August 11, 2025, by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, during a solemn session of the Asanteman Council.

The Queen Mother was not only a revered traditional leader but also the biological sister of the Asantehene.

Chiefs and elders gathered at the Manhyia Palace to receive the news, offering heartfelt condolences to the King as the Kingdom begins its customary mourning period.

In line with Asante tradition, a one-week observance will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.
