Five perish, others injured in Kumasi–Accra Highway crash at Asuboi

A tragic road accident on the Kumasi–Accra highway at Asuboi, near Suhum in the Eastern Region, has left at least five people dead and several others injured.

The incident, which occurred on Saturday morning, involved a Sprinter bus with registration number GW-5535-24. According to eyewitness accounts, the vehicle was speeding when one of its tyres burst, causing the driver to lose control.

The bus veered off its course and crashed violently, resulting in the instant deaths of five passengers. Several others sustained varying degrees of injury.

Reports indicate that emergency response teams arrived at the scene about half an hour later and conveyed the injured to the Suhum Government Hospital for medical care.

The accident has once again raised concerns about speeding and road safety on the busy Kumasi–Accra stretch, which has recorded multiple fatalities in recent years.
