Kumasi – Accra Highway: Bushy Highways and Police Extortion Fueling Road Carnage – Farouk Al-Wahab

Security Expert Farouk Al-Wahab has attributed the recent surge in road accidents in Ghana to the bushy nature of major highways and police extortion from commercial drivers.
Using the Kumasi-Accra Highway as a case study, Al-Wahab noted that large sections of the highway remain bushy, making it challenging for drivers to navigate safely.
He said this during an interview on the Kumasi based OTEC 102.9 FM’s morning show Nyansapo on Monday
Al-Wahab expressed concern over the issue, emphasizing that these problems could be easily addressed to reduce road accidents.
He also criticized the Ghana Police Service, stating that negligence on their part has contributed to the frequent accidents.
According to him, a significant percentage of police officers focus more on extracting money from drivers rather than enforcing road safety regulations.
The security expert has called on the public to pressure authorities to implement the necessary measures to reduce road accidents.
By addressing these issues, Al-Wahab believes that the country can make significant strides in improving road safety and reducing the loss of lives on its roads.
