The Willingway recovery and rehabilitation centre has organized a campaign walk against drug abuse at the Jubilee Park in Kumasi, aimed at raising awareness and preventing drug addiction, especially among the youth.

The event brought together various stakeholders, including musicians Akosua Agyapong and Okomfour Kwadae, representatives from the Ghana Fire Service, military personnel, students, and members of the Willingway Foundation.

In an interview with OTEC FM reporter Elizabeth Gyamfuaa Fosu (Akosuah Sunday), on Friday, August 22, 2025 the founder of the centre, Maame Lydia Owusu Ansah, emphasized the urgent need to intensify public education on the dangers of drug abuse.

She said that, their goal is to prevent people, especially the youth, from being introduced to hard drugs. Rehabilitation is important, but prevention is better.

She added that drug abuse continues to ruin lives and families, and the country must not wait until addiction sets in before taking action.

Renowned hiplife artist Jeremy Anaba A.K.A Okomfour Kwadee advised the youth to stay away from hard drugs that can destroy their lives.

He urged the youth to focus on their talents, education, and positive lifestyle choices, stressing that drug abuse offers nothing but pain, regret, and wasted potential.
