Okpewuokpe Togbui Dagadu IX, Paramount Chief of Akpini State

The Paramount Chief of Akpini State, Okpewuokpe Togbui Dagadu IX, has expressed profound sorrow over the tragic death of Ghana’s Minister for Defence, Honourable Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, and seven other officials who perished in a helicopter crash while on a national assignment.

In a condolence message issued from Kpando, Togbui Dagadu IX described the incident as “a devastating event that has plunged not only the nation but also the people of Akpini into deep mourning.”

The traditional leader fondly recalled his recent visit to Dr. Boamah’s office, where they discussed matters of mutual interest between the people of Kpando and the Ministry of Defence. He praised the late minister’s humility, foresight, and dedication to duty, noting his genuine commitment to strengthening civil-military relations in the Volta Region.

“The Honourable Minister was a true statesman, an accomplished professional, and a servant of the Republic whose life was dedicated to the protection, peace, and unity of our dear country. His passing is not just a national tragedy—it is a personal loss to the Akpini State,” the King stated.

On behalf of the chiefs, elders, and citizens of Akpini State, Togbui Dagadu IX extended heartfelt condolences to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the Government and People of Ghana, the Ministry of Defence, and the bereaved families of all eight victims.

He prayed for the souls of Dr. Boamah and the others to rest in perfect peace, adding that their service to Ghana would continue to inspire generations to come.
